The old what to take dilemia

So with 18 hours to go before we leave I'm having that "which tent" (std) delemia! Last trip we bought the Vaude (Green tent) and had it delivered in Germany. It's a great tent, quick to erect and has good storm resilience and warm and well sealed.

The other tent in the photo is a MacPac hike tent that Glen donated to the 'ashley' tent portfolio. It is a good tent, bit slower to get setup, but its 1/2 the weight of the Vaude at 2.5kgs. Its not quit as roomy and would not be good in Philip Island wind storm! (ie 2003 Super bikes for those that enjoyed that experience).

So in the end the MapPac got picked. We see how well that goes.

Post Number 1, testing.

So yes Deb and I are off to Europe once more. I have some more Long Service leave available and like before I am only allowed to take 3 months at a time. So that will do! Deb again was able to 'Negotiate' her leave allocation with her boss's which is great news.

I have setup a count down to departure which I guess some of you have seen, we have only 14 day (at this time) and some hours before we depart Alice Springs and head to Melbourne, then on to Dubai via Singapore, and then on to Frankfurt. Where we pick up a Rental car and drive up to Remscheid where we have our XRV750 Honda motorbike that we bought and used for the last trip. It's about to go to the Honda Shop for some service work, to get ready for us to use again.

Deb and I have been slowly collecting gear and sorting out what to again take. The pile of camping gear is growing, as is the riding gear that is now lying about the living area (yeah Deb's not so happy with this)...

We are sorting out the first part of our trip, and like any holiday and we have some dates and events that we have pre-committed too. One is to meet our World traveling friends Werner and Claudia who will be arriving back in the UK on 21st Aug. We have plans to then travel through France back to Germany  over a few days, so this means our UK part of the trip will be about 15 - 16 days all up. We might not be able to fit in Ireland. Or maybe we can do a short Fly in and out trip later on.

Well this is about all for this short 'testing' post.

Cheers,
Stephen and Deb.
